Best Pregnancy Journal Overall: Pearhead My Pregnancy Journal

After looking at a dozen pregnancy journals and having pregnant moms use them for a month, we think Pearhead’s My Pregnancy Journal is the best overall. Split into seven sections, this journal prompts you to record thoughts by trimester and other milestones. Here’s why we recommend it:

What We Liked

• Cover has space for ultrasound pic. • Cute design. • Pockets! • Pages for pictures to document the changes. • Spiral binding makes it easy to use.

What Needs Work

• More room for thoughts? Sometimes the space to write your thoughts was a bit small. • Not many detailed questions. It’s always nice to write to a prompt!

Best Pregnancy Journal Month by Month: Expecting You—A Keepsake Pregnancy Journal

This journal tracks pregnancy month by month. We liked the overall design, with a ribbon marker and gender neutral graphics.

What We Liked

Nicely design. • Full color. • Writing prompts for each month. • Affordable. • Cloth hardcover makes it a nice gift.

What Needs Work

• Why not week by week? Most pregnancy milestones are marked by weeks, not months. • No space for photos. • Not much room to write for some prompts.

Best Budget-Friendly Pregnancy Journal: The First-Time Mom’s Pregnancy Journal

This full color, paperback journal is divided by trimesters with pages for each week of pregnancy. You’d think that would be standard for pregnancy journals, but most others we tried out were organized by month or trimester. We preferred this journal’s week by week format. And it is easy on the wallet!

What We Liked

• Color graphics are nicely illustrated. • Checklists for appointments, emotions, symptoms and suggestions. • Nursery planning section. • Birth stats and photo space at end of journal. • Affordable.

What Needs Work

• Not spiral bound. This book is a paperback bound journal—it’s easier to write in a journal that is spiral bound, in our opinion. • Needs more room to write, fewer questions. • A bit repetitive. • Only goes to 36 weeks. And it starts at weeks 1 to 4—that’s before most folks realize they are pregnant!

Most Colorful Pregnancy Journal: Belly Book My 9 Months Journey

We liked this journal’s full color, wire bound design. Our readers liked the gender neutral palette, as well as the included stickers. You can attach photos—which is a nice touch. On the downside, it is a bit pricey.
