Best Tote-Style Diaper Bag for Twins: Pomelo Best Diaper Bag Tote

When it comes to large diaper bags that work best for twins, you have two basic choices: tote-style bag or backpack.

There really isn’t a right or wrong answer to that question—some folks like the hands-free benefit of backpacks, but fans of totes think they are best.

It’s simplistic to say that parents of twins need a diaper bag that holds twice as much stuff as parents of singletons . . .  but in this case, that’s true. So we were looking for the holy grail for large diaper bags: plenty of room, but still lightweight.

We tried out a raft of large diaper bag totes that would work for parents of twins, checking for quality, storage and functionality. In the end, we thought Pomelo’s tote was the best bet. We loved the overall design and light weight. Here’s more:

What We Liked

• 2 exterior pockets to quickly access often-used supplies.

• Elasticized pockets on either end of bag—nice to hold toys and other small items.

• Zippered pocket for laptop or tablet.

• Lightweight—2.1 lbs.

• Light colored interior lining makes it easier to find items.

• LARGE changing pad.

• Gender neutral color. Doesn’t scream “diaper bag!”

What Needs Work

• Strap clips break too easily said some of our readers. We didn’t have a problem with this on the bag we tested, but we didn’t do long-term testing that might touch on that durability issues.

Best Budget-Friendly Diaper Bag for Twins:  Keababies Diaper Bag Backpack

Twins are expensive—but your diaper bag doesn’t have to be. We looked at several affordable options for large diaper bags for parents of twins and thought Keababies was the best of the bunch. This backpack-style diaper bag has 18 pockets, weights just 10 ounces and is easy on the wallet.

What We Liked

Main compartment completely unzips. That’s nice to find missing items.

• Two side pockets: one for wipes and one insulated for bottles. 18 pockets in total! Wow!

• Waterproof changing pad.

• Water-resistant fabric.

• Affordable.

• Looks sharp. The gender neutral color scheme is a nice touch.

What Needs Work

• Shoulder strap padding. We wish there was more padding on the shoulder straps. It’s still comfortable to carry, but other choices have more padding.

Best Upgrade Diaper Bag for Twins: Hap Tim Diaper Bag Backpack

Sometimes we wonder if folks who design diaper bags actually have kids. If they did, they’d realize Einstein’s rule of Diaper Physics: whatever you most need will immediately sink to the bottom of your bag.

The folks who designed Hap Tim’s diaper bag backpack must be paying attention to this problem, since this bag actually let’s you access the main compartment from the BACK of the bag! Yes, near the bottom! Wow, what a concept.

This bag is a touch more pricey than others we tested, but we think it is worthy of the upgrade. Here’s more:

What We Liked

• Double main compartment. Instead of one giant space, this bag is thoughtfully split into two. There’s a shelf between the compartments, which is removable if you don’t like it.

• Waterproof fabric,

• Nicely padded shoulder straps.

• Lightweight at just 2 lbs.

• Front pocket with insulated bottle pockets.

• Biggest volume inside of the bags we tested.

What’s Needs Work

• No changing pad. That seems like an odd oversight, since most bags at this price level include that feature.

• Bulky for smaller parents. Well, that’s the disadvantage of larger diaper bags—they can overwhelm some folks!

Best Techie Diaper Bag for Twins: Yookee Home Large Diaper Bag Backpack for Twins or Two Kids

A diaper bag with a built-in USB charging port for your phone? Yes, please!

We thought this well designed bag would be a great gift for that parent of twins who loves tech. In addition to the USB charging port, there’s also a laptop pocket and a clever headphone port on the side—you can leave your phone in the bag and route a cord out the side.

What We Liked

• 14 pockets!

• Waterproof wet bag.

• Mesh back = more breathable.

• Chest strap. This is the only diaper bag backpack we found with a chest strap, which helps better distribute weight.

• Drawstring at top helps compress the bag when there is less to carry.

• Lightweight at 2.15 lbs.

What’s Needs Work

• Narrow. This bag is somewhat narrower than other bags we tested—it still qualifies as a large diaper bag in our book. But it is a touch smaller/narrower in size than others.
