What's the best bib? For feeding? For drool? Over the years, we've owned and tested hundreds of bibs for droolers, first-time solid-food eaters and "big kid" toddlers. In this round-up, we hand-tested for absorbency, washability, comfort and price. Here are our favorites.

FYI: We've been reviewing and rating products for the home and families since 1994. To keep things independent, we don't take money or freebies from brands we review! Our work is 100% reader-supported!

Best Bib, Overall: Bumkins SuperBib

We tested 20+ different bibs on real-life babies, drool and all! After all this testing, we picked Bumkins SuperBib as the Best Baby Bib, Overall. Here’s why:

What We Liked

• Name brand. Bumkins is a Phoenix, Arizona company that has been making bibs since 1989—that track record is important, since many bibs sold today are from import brands with little or no safety track record. Bumkins’ SuperBib is BPA-free, PVC-free, vinyl-free, phthalate-free and lead-free.

• Soft but strong fabric. The best bibs in our testing had to be strong enough to handle tugging and tearing by a baby, but soft enough to be comfortable. In our testing, the Bumkins SuperBib had the best combination of these factors.

• Machine washable. Yes, you can wash these bibs in a washing machine.

• 30 plus patterns plus many gender neutral colors and prints that are Instagram ready.

What Needs Work

• Pocket may not catch all food. While we liked the Bumkins SuperBib for overall quality, the shallow/narrow pocket frustrated some of our testers by not catching all falling food.

Mold can grow in the pocket if not cleaned carefully. And yes, these bibs can stain.

• Clothes dryer may crack the waterproofing. The back of these bibs can crack from a hot clothes dryer—line dry for the best results.

Best Drool Bib: YooFoss’ Baby Bibs Bandana Bib

YooFoss’ Baby Bibs Bandana Bib is our pick for the best drool bib for baby. These bibs hit all the right notes: cute, functional and affordable. Here’s more pros and cons:

What We Liked

• Snaps, no velcro. Our testers loved that babies could NOT just rip off this bib, thanks to snaps in the back.

• Very soft.

• Modern, cute designs.

What Could be Improved

•  Can lose their shape in the wash/dryer. Yes, these bibs can be machine washed, but it is best to air dry them. A few of our testers complained these bibs bunched up and lost their shape when dried in a hot dryer.

• Slippy. Like many bandana bibs, they may slip out of position and need constant adjusting. That’s a flaw with this style in general and not a knock on this choice.

Best Bibs For Feeding: Happy Healthy Parent Silicone Baby Bibs

While standard bibs do a decent job at feeding, silicone bibs are excellent for their larger/wider pockets that catch more food. Our pick here is the Happy Healthy Parent Silicone Baby Bibs–it did the best in our testing.

What We Loved

• Large/wide pocket catches spills better than other bibs.

• Lightweight. You’d think these bibs would be heavy, but we found the opposite: our testers loved the soft, lightweight food-grade silicone.

• Easy to clean.

What Needs Work

• May be hard to attach for some caregivers. Our grandparent testers with arthritis found attaching these bibs to be a challenge, since small buttons must be pushed through holes.

Why Trust Us

We’ve been rating and reviewing products for the home and families since 1994. We do extensive research, evaluating products with an eye toward quality, ease of use and affordability. When we purchase a product for hands-on testing, we do so with our own money.

Here’s another key point: we don’t take money from the brands we review. No free samples, no sponsors, no “partnerships.” Our work is 100% reader-supported!
