What is the best plant caddy? We asked the gardening enthusiasts among our parent readers for their favorites. Then we did another 5 hours of research, including interviewing two gardening experts with 20 years of experience between them. After looking at 13 brands, here are the plant caddies we think are best.

FYI: We've been reviewing and rating products for the home and families since 1994. We don't take money or freebies from the brands we review. Our work is 100% reader-supported!

Best Easy-to-Move: 6-pack Plant Caddy with Casters

Let’s talk plant caddies!

Having your favorite plants on a caddy is most helpful in moving them around—especially if your plants are heavy!

Why move a plant around on a caddy? Experienced gardeners know that you may want to move a plant to a more sunny location if it is failing to thrive. Likewise, moving a plant out of the way of bad weather can prevent hail or wind damage and when you want to clean your deck, it’s much easier when you can roll the plants out of the way.

When it comes to caddies, you have a few basic choices. The lightest models are made of plastic and are most easy to use. In this category, we liked Planterhoma’s 6-pack of plant caddies as budget-friendly and easy to use.

What We Liked

• Easy to assemble.

• Wheels roll nicely.

• Sturdy.

• Easy to move around.

• Affordable.

What Needs Work

• Smooth wheels can sometimes slide on slick surfaces.

Best Adjustable Caddy: W B D WEIBIDA Plant Caddy with Wheels

One challenge with plant caddies is size: most caddies are not adjustable. If you are a plant enthusiast, however, you may want to repurpose a caddy for a new plant that is a larger or smaller size. For this purpose, we like the WEIBIDA caddy—yes, it expands from 15 7/8″ all the way up to 21.25″. And best of all, it can hold up to 440 lbs. We liked the overall quality here.

What We Liked

• Easy to put together.

• A great back saver.

• Heavy duty wheels.

• Sturdy.

• Easy to adjust.

What Needs Work

• A bit pricey.

Best Budget-Friendly: Tosnail 3 Pack 10.5” Round Metal Plant Caddy

Yes, plant caddies can get rather pricey. But what if you need a basic caddy for a few lightweight plants? This three-pack is a reader favorite and would also be our top choice—it gets the job done at a price that is easier on the wallet.

What We Liked

• Sturdy.

• Easy to assemble.

• Locking wheels.

• Helpful to move around five gallon buckets.

What Needs Work

• No lip means plants can slide off when moving around—be careful!

• Best for indoor use . . . not as optimal for outdoors, in our opinion.

Best Heavy Duty: Bosmere S20410 Down Under Plant Caddie

If you’ve got heavy pots, many plant caddies can’t get the job done—they often don’t work for plants that weigh over 120 lbs. In this case, if you’ve got some trees or large, mature plants, we like Bosmere’s S20410 caddy.

• Sturdy.

• Easy to move around.

• Rustproof.

• Center drainage hole.

• Great for heavy pots.

• Pricey.

How We Pick Products To Recommend

We often turn to our readers (3 million strong!) to find products to recommend. We ask our parent readers for their favorites and consider their real-world experiences in our recommendations.

When we test a product, we always purchase it with our own monies. We do not take free samples, as we believe that compromises our independence.

We also fact check manufacturer information with our own measurements. If a maker claims a product weighs X pounds, we will weigh it to make sure. If the battery life is supposed to be six hours, we will see how it stands up in the real world.

In some cases, we will do interviews with experts in the field to get additional feedback on products.

To get hands-on time with products, we regularly meet one-on-one with gear companies and even tour manufacturing facilities. (When we do this, we pay our own travel expenses).

Why Trust Us

We’ve been rating and reviewing products for the home and families since 1994. We do extensive research, evaluating products with an eye toward quality, ease of use and affordability.

We make our living from affiliate commissions, but we always recommend what we think are the best bets for our readers (not the ones that are the most expensive). We are always looking for products that offer the best bang for the buck.

Our independence is a key reason why we have been doing this so long. As we mentioned above, when we purchase a product for hands-on testing, we do so with our own money.

Here’s another key point: we don’t take money from the brands we review. No free samples, no sponsors, no “partnerships.” Our work is 100% reader-supported!
