What is the best dehumidifier/air purifier combo? To find out, we tested a half dozen brands, checking for effectiveness and ease of use. Then we asked our parent readers for their favorites, based on real-world conditions. Here are the ones we recommend.

Best Budget-Friendly: Tenergy Sorbi 1000ml Air Dehumidifier w/Air Purifying Function

You’d think finding a good dehumidifier and air purifier combo would be a piece of cake, considering how popular each appliance is these days. Yet for some reason, we could only find a half dozen models that combined both features—especially those with HEPA filtration.

Why you would want both a dehumidifier and air purifier? Well, if you work in an office that is both humid and dusty, then this machine is a must-have. After trying out the handful of models on the market and asking our readers for their suggestions, we think Tenergy’s Sorbi Air Dehumidifier with Air Purifying Function is the best budget-friendly for most folks.

Yes, this little machine can remove 25 ounces of water from the air each day, making it a good choice for smaller spaces (think an office or smaller apartment). It worked well and is reasonably quiet (we measured it at 41 decibels).

What We Liked

• Weighs just 7 lbs.—easy to move from room to room.

• Simple to use.

• 1 liter water tank.

• HEPA filter.

• Auto shut-off.

 • Water sensor tells you when tank needs to be emptied.

What Needs Work

• Probably not the best choice for larger spaces, like a basement.

• Not as ideal for a bedroom. While we judged this dehumidifier/air purifier combo to be quiet enough for an office, it might be less ideal for a bedroom. See the next pick, as it runs somewhat quieter.

Best For Bedroom

Compact, lighweight
Super quiet, this model is our pick to dehumidify a bedroom. Bonus: it can run just in air purifier mode, which is a feature other brands lack.

Best For Bedroom: Air Purifiers for Home and Dehumidifier All in One

When it comes to dehumidifier/air purifier combos for use in a bedroom, there’s one feature that is paramount: noise!

Yes, some of these machines can be quite noisy. In fact, as we tried out several brands, we eliminated several for being way too loud.

The quietest, most effective model we found was Honati’s Air Purifier For Home and Dehumidifier All in One. Here’s why we recommend it:

What We Liked

Quiet. We measured this unit at 25 decibels—that’s equivalent to a whisper.

• Compact size.

• Lightweight (6 lbs.).

• Easy to use.

• Can run just the air purifier function by itself.

• Good for small spaces (office, bedroom) up to 215 square feet.

• HEPA filter. This needs to be replaced every 3-6 months.

What Needs Work

• Not as ideal for larger spaces like a basement.

Best For Basement

Can drain via hose
We liked how well this unit worked in larger rooms like a basement—and the washable air filter is easy to care for. Also nice: power outage restart and 24-hour timer.

Best For Basement: MIDEA MAD20C1ZWS Dehumidifier for up to 1500 Sq Ft with Reusable Air Filter

When  it comes to dehumidifying (plus air purifying) a larger area like a basement, we recommend this model: MIDEA’s MAD20C1ZWS. The larger 20 pint capacity makes it good for areas up to 1500 square feet.

What We Liked

• Easy to use.

• Quiet. This model on its highest setting is about 50 decibels—that’s reasonable for the size of the unit.

• 24 hour timer.

• Auto shut-off.

• Restarts after power outage.

• Can drain via hose.

• Washable mesh filter doesn’t need to be replaced.

What Needs Work

• Pricey.

• Filter isn’t HEPA-rated. That said, we still like this model—the filter is great for removing dust, pet hair or other large particulates.
