Crib Bedding brand review: Burts Bees. How does a company that started out making candles end up with its fingers in personal care, make up clothing and bedding?
Yes, Burt’s Bees did make candles in it’s early years during the 1980’s, but thanks to co-owner Roxanne Quimby, they later expanded into lotions, creams and other bath/skin care items. By 1998, they had a line of baby care items. And now they make organic cotton baby clothing and organic cotton crib bedding.
Burt’s keeps its bedding line simple: just fitted sheets, bed skirts, quilts, stroller blankets and changing pad covers. Patterns are simple (bees, trees, stripes and stars among others) and prices are reasonable. Single sheets are $18 (or two for $30) and cable knit stroller blankets are $30.
The organic cotton they use in their bedding is certified by GOTS as synthetic pesticide free. Parents really love Burt’s Bees sheets, especially how soft the jersey knit fabric feels. Parents report they fit well even after several washings. With all this positive feedback, we’ll give Burt’s Bees sheets a recommended rating. Rating: A
