Best Manly Diaper Bags

Best Manly Diaper Bags. Can we talk? Not too long ago, diaper bags used to look like this:

Diaper Bag from the 1970's

Yep, that is a 1970’s era diaper bag from Fisher Price. For decades, diaper bags were festooned with cartoon characters and cutesy colors—and most dudes wouldn’t be caught dead carrying them.

Good news, fellow dads—there are now many more options that are, well, more manly. As the authors of the best-selling guide to baby gear, Baby Bargains, we’ve been researching diaper bags for 20 years to find the best brands. Here’s our list of the Best Manly Diaper Bags that not only combine smart looks but all the features one needs in a diaper bag:

Best Manly Diaper Bag #1: Tactical Baby Gear Daypack 3.0. After evaluating and testing 15 different diaper bags aimed at dads, we picked this bag by Tactical Baby Gear, a South Carolina-based company that makes diaper bags and accessories with a rugged aesthetic.

Forget the cheap vinyl you might see on some diaper bags—the Tactical Diaper bags feature “military-grade” fabric. We’re not sure exactly what makes it military-grade, but it certainly is durable. The diaper bag features all that you expect from a diaper bag: changing mat, wipes pouch and some things you don’t expect (three carabiners, anyone?).

The backpack is also available as a conventional bag too. If camo isn’t your color, the bags come in three other colors: khaki, black and grey.

Best Manly Diaper Bag #2: DadGear Backpack Diaper Bag. We like this diaper bag’s clamshell opening—you can lay the main compartment out flat to get to the clothes or gear you need. We like that you can see everything so easily.

Storage pockets abound in the two front zippered sections and on the sides. You can fit large water bottles or smaller baby bottles in two insulated side zip pockets too. Diapers can be stored in the smaller top compartment for easy access.

The DadGear backpack includes a changing pad, key loop, stroller strap and light colored interior for easy viewing. At this price, DadGear certainly isn’t the least expensive diaper bag backpack on the market, but we think the features and quality make it worth the cost.

Best Manly Diaper Bag #3: Ju-Ju-Be Vector Active Diaper Bag Backpack. Ju-Ju-Be started making diaper bags back in 2005 and has climbed the best-seller charts with clever designs. They are one of our top diaper bag brands for overall quality.

Key features include shoulder harness with padding and internal insulated bottle pocket—because who wants to have a baby bottle hanging on the outside of your backpack? We liked the Teflon fabric protector—but if it gets gross, this bag is machine washable.

Best Manly Diaper Bag #4: HSD Diaper Bag Backpack + Changing Pad. High Speed Daddy (HSD) diaper bag back pack is not only roomy but features two large insulated side pockets—great if you’ve got twins or two kiddos in diapers. We loved the waterproof fabric (600D polyester) and thickly padded shoulder straps.

The attention to detail here is nice—there is a rear-strap for luggage (you can attach it easily to most roller boards), for example. Yes, the large main compartment is the star here, but we also give bonus points for the integrated baby wipes holder and padded hydration bladder.

A winner at this price plus there are four colors to boot.
