Price: $180.

Weight Range: 7 to 45 lbs.

Comments: Beco offers up yet another Ergobaby 360° alternative: the front carrier Beco 8. With a similar style to the 360, the Beco 8 has a wide waistband, padded shoulder straps (can be worn straight or crossed in the back), integrated infant insert, zippered airflow panel, built in headrest, sleeping hood, and pocket (on waistband).

You can carry your baby facing in or out, as well as on the hip or back just like the 360 or Baby Bjorn One. The 8 can also be machine washed–a handy feature if your baby spits up a lot. The infant insert works like the insert on the Boba (no surprise as they are really the same company): for babies 7-10 lbs. in the first position and 10-15lbs in the second position. For kids 16-45 lbs., remove the insert. We do wish the insert wasn’t separate as we fear it could get lost, making the carrier unusable for small babies.

The Beco 8 does come with something no other similar carrier has, a lumbar support:

The Beco 8 is fairly new, so there isn’t much feedback on it yet. Parents who have purchased it like the ventilation panel, as well as all the padding. The lumbar support is a must for babies approaching the upper end of the weight scale and received praise from lots of parents. The only complaints: the straps can be hard to adjust and the buckles are definitely tight. Of course, that’s a plus for safety but tough on your fingers.
