new model, except for a sketch (see right) and price ($30). The new model isn’t
even on Playtex’s web site yet.

Playtex
has largely bungled the Diaper Genie, which it bought 5 years ago from its
inventor (Mondial). During that time, the Diaper Genie didn’t change at
all—while new competitors from the Diaper Decor, Dorel and Baby Trend helped
steal away market share. While the Diaper Genie was innovative when it first
debuted in the 90’s, its design hasn’t aged well over the years. Parents seem to
prefer the non-refill options like Baby
Trend.
