Safety 1st Incognito boosterBooster type: Backless booster

Weight: 60 to 100 lbs.

Price: $25

IIHS rating: Not yet.

NHTSA ease of use rating: Four out of five stars.

Pros: Lower profile; neutral colors.

Cons: Won’t work for younger kids as it is lower than other boosters.

Comments: The Safety 1st Incognito booster is intended for use by older kids, not toddlers. The age range for the Ingognito is eight years old and up and 60 lbs+. As the name implies, the Incognito has a low profile to blend into a car’s interior.

Kudos to Safety 1st for thinking outside the box here. This booster would work well for a small school age child that needs just a couple inches of boost for an improved belt fit.

Reader feedback has been positive, but a few folks complained that the seat is hard (uncomfortable for long trips) and, for some kids too narrow. Others noted it slipped around on leather seats. Overall, however, we’d recommend this seat—a good solution for smaller school age kids. Rating: A-
