IIHS Rating: Best Bet.

NHTSA ease of use rating: Not yet.

Pros: ISOFIX rigid LATCH connectors keep seat from moving when empty; extra side impact protection.

Cons: Price. No armrests or cupholder.

Comments: The Maxi Cosi RodiFix booster car seat features Dorel’s “Air Protect” side impact cushions, which are integrated into the height adjustable headrest. When you pull the headrest up, it also widens the body to better fit a growing child. The RodiFix also adds LATCH connectors to keep the seat from moving when unoccupied. In the past year, the RodiFix got a new cover that easily removes and is machine washable and dryable, which of course is a big plus.

One negative: it doesn’t have armrests. And while we like the addition of LATCH, the price on this model is too high to earn a top rating. (A cup holder? You expected that for this price, don’t you?) You can buy a good quality high back belt-positioning booster from Britax or Graco for half this price. Rating: C
