Koala Baby is Babies R Us’ (BRU) attempt at establishing an in-house brand of bedding (it’s is actually made by Crown Craft). They intend the line to be a very affordable option for parents on a budget. For example, fitted percale sheets cost as little as $16 for a two pack. Sheets are sold in solid colors as well as a few prints like dots and animals. Fabrics vary and include flannel and sateen as well as the percale. A bummer: elastic is only on the ends of the sheets, not around the entire sheet as we’d prefer.
BRU recently added a few crib bedding sets to its Koala Baby line including the cute elephant design pictured above. Sold as a set of four pieces with a quilt, dust ruffle, diaper stacker and fitted sheet, the price is a reasonable $100. Unfortunately, while the sheet is 100% cotton, other pieces in the set are made with a poly blend.
Another negative: Koala Baby does sell bumpers, although they are not included in their sets. Regardless, we’d like to see them discontinue this hazardous bedding accessory.
While the prices of Koala Baby crib bedding are affordable, the quality is unimpressive. The sets include items made of poly-cotton blends, which we don’t recommend. We’re skeptical that these sets will last long–quality is unimpressive. Rating: C-
