Like most things Cosco makes, their high chairs define the entry-level price point in this market.

For example, Cosco has the Simple Fold High Chair, a $35 to $50 high chair that folds compactly to a standing position. The chair includes a three position adjustable tray with cup holder, leg rest, three point harness and wipeable (not machine washable) seat pad. But the secret sauce to this high chair is its impressive thin profile when folded and it can stand on its own. Not bad for around $40 for most models.

Cosco Simple Fold Deluxe High Chair

The slim fold is a plus for the Cosco Simple Fold

While the Simple Fold chair is fine for occasional use at Grandma’s house, we aren’t keen on it offerings as a primary high chair. Why? The Simple Fold is flimsy and lacks safety features (example: three-point harnesses instead of a five-point) thus making this chair better for occasional use. And the pad doesn’t remove from the chair, making it harder to clean after repeated use. Parents also complain that the seat is in a perpetual reclining position–not easy to use unless your child is able to site upright unassisted. New this year is the Simple Fold Deluxe. The only differences here is upgraded fabric.

So if you’re looking for an occasional high chair to use at Grandma’s, the Simple Fold is a good option. The price is certainly cheap and it folds up small but we doubt it could handle the wear and tear of daily use.

FYI: Cosco is discontinuing its Flat Fold and Slim Fold high chair models, although we still see a few for sale online.
