Cosco Rightway ProntoBooster type: High back and backless booster

Weight: 30-100 lbs. as belt positioning booster, 40-100 lbs. as backless booster.

Price: $22 to $40 depending on fabric

Backless mode: Check fit.
High back mode: Best Bet.

NHTSA ease of use rating: Four out of five stars.

Pros: Low price, machine washable pad, cup holder.

Cons: None.

Comments: The Cosco Rightway Pronto has a roomy seat and adjusts for taller kids. We also like the machine washable pad. And you can’t beat the price. This might be a good booster for Grandma’s car.

Unlike Cosco’s High Back Booster, this seat earns a better rating from the government for ease of use (four out of five stars) and a Best Bet from the IIHS in high back mode. Reader feedback has also been positive.

On the other hand, the fabric and padding isn’t as nice as the Graco TurboBooster and some parents complain it’s cheap with minimal padding. And Evenflo’s similar model has armrests that move up (the Pronto has fixed armrests, which makes climbing in and out of the seat a bit more challenging). But the Pronto is less expensive than those options, so there’s your trade-off.
